The CD4022 is a 4-stage divide-by-8 Johnson counter with 8 decoded outputs and a carry-out bit. These counters are cleared to their zero counts by a logical ‘‘1’’ on their reset line. These counters are advanced on the positive edge of the clock signal when the clock enable signal is in the logical ‘‘0’’ state.

The CD4069 consists of six inverter circuits and is manufactured using complementary MOS (CMOS) to achieve a wide power supply operating range, low power consumption, high noise immunity, and symmetric controlled rise and fall times. This device is intended for all general-purpose inverter applications inputs are protected from damage due to static discharge by diode clamps to VDD and VSS.
